Church Easter Flyer & Leaflet Design: A Theme, Not Just an Invite

Easter is the heartbeat of year. It’s when churches welcome guests, reconnect with occasional visitors, and gather to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.

And with so much happening—Easter Sunday, Good Friday, sunrise services, Easter trails, family gatherings, egg hunts—you’ll probably be creating a few different promotional pieces. That’s where a solid design plan comes in.

A clear, warm, and unified church Easter flyer (and all the materials that come with it) doesn’t just help people remember what’s happening. It helps them feel welcome, informed, and ready to engage.

Start with a Central Easter Message

Before you jump into design, ask: What’s the message behind everything this Easter?

Instead of just announcing a schedule, think about the heart of your Easter season. What’s your church focusing on? What’s the story you want people to hear?

It might be something like:

  • “He Is Risen”

  • “Come and See”

  • “From Death to Life”

  • “Hope Restored”

  • “This Changes Everything”

Once you’ve got your theme or message, everything else flows from that—your flyer, your social posts, your email subject lines, even your talk titles.

Choose a Visual Style That Supports the Message

Your design should echo the tone of your message—joyful, peaceful, expectant, or contemplative.

Choose a few consistent visual elements:

  • A colour palette (don’t pick lots of colours. 2-4 work perfectly)

  • A font pairing that feels clean and hopeful

Visual styles—photos, illustrations, or minimal textures (sunrise, lilies, empty tomb, cross, light breaking through darkness)

Design Your Church Easter Flyer or Leaflet

Here’s how to make your flyer both beautiful and effective:

Front:

  • The theme or event title

  • A strong, relevant visual (not just another stock cross)

  • A short, friendly welcome
e.g. “Join us this Easter for a message of hope, life, and renewal.”

Back:

  • A clear list of what’s happening (Good Friday, Easter Sunday, kids’ events, etc.)

  • Times, location, postcode

  • Contact info or church website

  • A call to action or QR code (optional but useful!)

If you’re promoting multiple events, keep things simple—use icons, columns, or colour sections to avoid overwhelming people.

Repurpose It for Digital Media

Your church Easter flyer design can (and should) go far beyond print. Repurpose it across all your platforms so your message is instantly recognisable wherever people see it.

Social Media:

  • Instagram Post: 1080 × 1080 px

  • Instagram Story / Facebook Reel: 1080 × 1920 px

  • Facebook Banner or Event Header: 1200 × 628 px

  • Livestream Slide / YouTube Promo: 1280 × 720 px

Use the same colour scheme, fonts, and theme—just reshuffle the layout to suit each platform.

Email & WhatsApp:

  • Use the flyer image as your email header

  • Create a short-form version with just event names and links

  • Drop the digital leaflet (PDF or image) into group chats

In-Church and Community:

  • Posters, banners, service sheets, welcome screens

  • Outreach postcards or leaflet drops

  • Local cafés, shops, or community boards

Keep the Focus on Jesus

All the design, planning, and promotion has one purpose: to invite people into the story of Jesus’ resurrection. So while you work on making your church Easter design consistent, beautiful, and practical—don’t forget the spiritual invitation.

A well-crafted flyer isn’t just about increasing numbers. It’s about removing barriers. Ultimately it’s an invitation to “Come and meet Jesus.”
